Permitting

New septic systems, replacements, and most major repairs in San Diego County require a permit from the Department of Environmental Health and Quality. We assemble the layout, site data, and application, submit to DEHQ, and schedule inspections so you are not left translating county forms on your own.

Why the permit comes first

Digging without approval risks a stop-work order, a failed inspection, and a system you cannot legally use. California OWTS rules set the statewide floor. San Diego County applies them through DEHQ and its local program.

Solid State Septic manages permitting for residential and small commercial systems as a licensed C-42 contractor and DEHQ-approved installer,

Paperwork first. Excavation second.

Tank Talk: News from the Field

Protect the drainfield. Pump the tank on schedule.

Review time varies with completeness and site difficulty. Incomplete layouts are what create the long delays. A complete package moves faster.

You can apply. Most owners still need a qualified designer and a licensed installer. We handle the submittal and the field work together.

If the extra living space increases design flow, DEHQ must confirm the existing system can take it or that an upgrade is approved—before the building permit.

Major tank and drainfield work usually does. We will tell you which category your job falls into before work starts.
